The short version
- We use your data to run the app. We don't sell it.
- Banks connect through Plaid. We never receive your bank password.

Who we are
ZeroBased LLC ("ZeroBased," "we," "us") makes the ZeroBased app for iPhone and runs zerobased.org. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account information. Your email address, or the identifier Apple provides if you use Sign in with Apple. [Your name, if you add one.]
- Information from accounts you connect. Account names and types, balances, and transactions, received through Plaid.
- Information you create. Budgets, categories, rules, notes, and settings such as your theme.
- Subscription status. Whether your subscription is active, as confirmed by Apple. We never receive your payment card details.
- Launch list. If you sign up on zerobased.org to hear when ZeroBased launches, your email address, collected through our website host, Netlify.

Bank connections
When you connect an account, you sign in to your bank through Plaid Inc., not through ZeroBased. Plaid then shares read-only account information with us. We never receive your bank username or password. Plaid's own handling of your data is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
How we use it
To run the app: syncing and categorizing transactions, applying your rules, calculating budgets and pace, finding recurring charges, and building reports. We also use it to answer support requests, to send the launch email you asked for, and to keep the service secure. [We do not use your financial information for advertising.]
AI assistant
The assistant is optional. When you ask it a question, your question and the transaction and budget details needed to answer it are sent to the AI provider you've selected [list providers] to generate a reply. [Describe each provider's retention and training terms.]
Where it's stored
Your data is stored with Google Cloud (Firebase) and processed on Amazon Web Services, in the United States [confirm regions]. A copy is kept on your iPhone so the app stays fast. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account from the account screen in the app. [When you do, we remove your data from our servers within N days and disconnect your banks from Plaid. Backups are kept for up to N days.]

Your rights

Children
ZeroBased isn't meant for anyone under [18], and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and let you know in the app.
